I needed a good heavy duty stapler for my home office, but didn't want the expense or hassle of an electric. I was going to need the ability to occasionally print and staple very large documents, and with my ink-jet, I prefer to use the heavier 24-lb paper. I also bought the Swingline HD 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, and 1/2-inch staples.

This Swingline was "just what the doctor ordered". I recently had to download and print a 124-page document. I printed it two-side to save paper, but I still needed to staple 62 sheets of 24-lb paper. I easily swapped the 1/4-inch staples for 1/2-inch, lined up the document, and said "Here goes nothing!" This stapler quickly and SMOOTHLY stapled the document with no problem and just a light easy stroke. The 1/2-inch staple had enough length to fully secure the document and fold underneath the last page, and there was no sign of stress or bending of the staple itself.

I recommend this stapler to anyone who has to staple more than 10 sheets of paper at any time.

±1±: Best Buy I had been fed up with my plastic Swingline stapler -- it wasn't smooth & when it had less than 10 staples left it would jam. So I decided to buy a new one...heck, I needed to add to an order to get Free Super Saver Shipping, so why not a new stapler? I wasn't going to fork over the extra for red, but then I realized that my office is usually such a disaster, that having a red stapler would make it easier to find when I needed it (this has proven true!) This stapler is heavy duty and staples soooo smoothly, I hardly need to press down on it to staple the pages, much different than the cheap plastic one I've been using for years. We first purchased these staplers for a busy academic library for our patrons' use. The first year they were terrific. This past year, every single stapler broke by the third day of use. The loading device has a small plastic nub that is critical for the proper functioning of the stapler. That nub broke in every single stapler. We duck-taped the loader and got more mileage from each stapler that way but the whole situation was very difficult. It is an example of a great product that went wrong through a cheapened manufacturing process. This might be ok for your desk, but for public or heavy duty use, avoid it.
