I absolutely had to pick up this stapler after finding it on amazon. There used to be a real life female version of Milton in my office, who reminded me of Milton even before she sent out the following classic email, aptly titled "stapler":
"Did you borrow my stapler on Monday evening? If so, please return it."

Obviously, me and my co-workers almost died laughing. If she was still with us I would have bought her one of these shiny red ones. To this day nobody knows if she ever found her company issued Swingline, but our office building is still standing.

I had been fed up with my plastic Swingline stapler -- it wasn't smooth & when it had less than 10 staples left it would jam. So I decided to buy a new one...heck, I needed to add to an order to get Free Super Saver Shipping, so why not a new stapler? I wasn't going to fork over the extra $5 for red, but then I realized that my office is usually such a disaster, that having a red stapler would make it easier to find when I needed it (this has proven true!) This stapler is heavy duty and staples soooo smoothly, I hardly need to press down on it to staple the pages, much different than the cheap plastic one I've been using for years. I'm very happy with my new stapler!

Somewhere retailers lost their way and started selling cheap Chinese crap staplers that jam up and "down-wobble" so much that they just drive me nuts. It made me cherish my Navy Grey, 1956 Swingline stapler that, over a half-century later, still performs like a champ.

So it's sad that I had to hunt for something that approaches that heavy, grey performer, and I'm glad that I found this one. T'aint cheap (compared to the Chinese crap found in Office Max and such places), but it works. And hopefully it'll last a half century, too.

Dear USA manufacturers and retailers: Even the most frugal guys out there (that would be me) are willing to pay more if we get more. Decent quality stuff shouldn't have to be named "Collectors Edition" (as if it's a quaint old notion to produce MINIMUM-ACCEPTABILITY-LEVEL quality) to sell. I'm buying another one of these red suckers (one for upstairs, one for down) and then dumping my crap-staplers off at Goodwill. Quality, OK? Because cheap can be expensive.

Having owned 3 of these over the years, I consider them the best light duty office staplers out there. Pair it with the swingline SF4 premium staples for an even better stapler experience.

The first two of these I had definitely had an orangy color to them, the new one I just got is a nice cherry red. 'bout the only thing that could make this a better stapler would be if it wasn't made in China, even if it did cost a bit more.

I bought this stapler for nostalgic and practical reasons. A) The movie Office Space (I don't care if it isn't EXACTLY the same, it still reminds me of Milton) B) My unit took these staplers to Baghdad, Iraq. In between being mortared we really enjoyed using our red Swinglines to assemble documents as part of the bureaucracy of war. C) This stapler can double as a weapon in a pinch. It's heavy and would make a good head battering tool if you got into a fight with a co-worker. D) It staples well. The tactile sensation of binding your stack of paperwork with a small folded piece of shiny metal will please you. You just cannot say that about a flimsy plastic stapler. It's not the same feeling.
